High-Speed Civil Transport
Imagine flying a commercial airliner like this from California to Japan in only four hours. NASA's aeronautical research is working to make commercial supersonic aircraft a reality. Our work maintains U.S. industry's strength in high speed aeronautics through technologies that will enable the building of environmentally compatible and economically viable supersonic commercial transports. Our research will reduce stratospheric emissions, airport noise, sonic booms, and manufacturing costs while increasing the range and payload capabilities of high speed aircraft.
